The land is dissected with a little stream that just before terminating in the Big Rideaux has a spectacular waterfall as it drops nearly 30 metres. In the winter the lake has two feet of ice and is great for snowmobiles with plenty of natural trails in the surrounding countryside for walking, skiing and indeed snowmobiling. On the land, one can often see plenty of animals particularly deer, porcupines and even  skunks - best seen from a distance! There is a small, private jetty for mooring a boat with launch facilities. Westport is 4 miles by car, 2 miles by boat. Steps are to the water’s edge with several partially tree shaded decks for sunbathing and watching the world pass by! In the winter, downhill skiing facilities are a few miles away, although not very high mountains!  In the summer the water is superb for swimming - crystal clear and now weeds and amazingly warm just a like a heated swimming  -

A new house will be  built that will have spectacular views of the lake which is about two miles across and several miles in length. It eventually connects to the St Lawrence, and thus the Atlantic. In the summer it is perfect for swimming being very warm - just like a public swimming pool amazing, especially considering the temperature differential between winter and summer.

The water is perfectly safe, but young children need to be watched as the water is fairly deep 10 meters from the shore. No weeds and crystal clear. Very good fishing. Completely private. One definitely needs a car for transportation. Ideal for barbecues next to the lake or by the cascading stream, or on a large deck surrounding a strategically placed (for the view) garden chalet.

This property should be available to rent in the summer of 2008

Westport, Ontario, Canada

Situated 1 hr from the airports of Ottawa and about 3.5 hr from Toronto, this property is located just outside the quaint little village of Westport, with nearly six acres of partially wooded (Pine & Hickory) and grass that offer superb views of the “Big Rideaux” one of the many lake/rivers in Canada. Westport is a gorgeous little town very popular for tourism - but most importantly uncrowded.
